Black Creek Community Farm

As of December 18, 2020, Black Creek Community Farm (BCCF) has delivered more than 14,000 emergency food boxes to residents in Toronto’s North West. The farm has been on the front-lines of supporting food insecure residents of the Jane-Finch neighbourhood. Leticia Ama Deawuo, BCCF’s Executive Director has spent more than a decade of dedicated community organizing work in Jane-Finch and has spoken and written extensively on the impacts of racism, colonialism, the patriarchy and classism in the food system.

In the new year, Leticia is taking a hiatus from work at BCCF to focus on pursuing her Master’s of Environmental Studies program at York University. A GoFundMe has been set up for Leticia to help cover costs associated with her research, where she will share the stories of Black Indigenous women in our food system, and allowing her to take time off of work.

During her break, BCCF is looking for an interim Executive Director in addition to some farm education positions. You can find more info here.
