On April 25, the Province of Ontario amended its emergency order to permit the use of allotment gardens and community gardens across the province during the COVID19 pandemic. Read the full press release (Click here).
This success comes only by the hard work of a number of community organizations including Toronto Urban Growers, Sustain Ontario, the Toronto Food Policy Council and many others.
It was shortly after that Mayor John Tory announced that his staff are working to develop rules and safety guidelines to allow allotment and community gardens can open in Toronto. (Read more)
