Grocery Giants Are Cancelling Pandemic Pay for Workers Despite Soaring Profits

Walmart, Metro and Loblaw have all cancelled the pandemic pay that was implemented in March. The 2$ an hour pay increase was to compensate for the increase in traffic in grocery stores. Loblaw profits jumped 21 percent in the first quarter compared to the same time last year.
The Weston family which owns Loblaws is one of the wealthiest in Canada and says they support any government initiative that requires a living wage for workers.
