Local Food Services to Support

COVID-19 if nothing else has demonstrated the need for local solutions. See the list below for some local organizations doing great work, supporting a just local food system and supporting Toronto’s most vulnerable.

Black Creek Community Farm is working to support residents living in the Jane and Finch Community who are most vulnerable to food insecurity. They are seeking donations to be able to provide free and low-cost food boxes from FoodShare Toronto. Read more

FoodShare Toronto has waived delivery fees on their Good Food Boxes until April 1 to make the box more accessible. Read more.

Community Food Centres Canada has announced the Good Food Access Fund. $3-million will be directed towards vulnerable neighbours, including children, single parents, Indigenous people, seniors, and those on disability supports. To learn more visit https://cfccanada.ca/en/Good-Food-Access-Fund

In addition, Kendal Hills Farm, located about an hour outside of Toronto, has just opened up a virtual farmers’ market, and they’re delivering to Toronto on Thursdays and Fridays. They will be adding more local farms to the platform in the near future to respond to demand and support more local businesses.
