The first Toronto Food Policy Council meeting of the fall season celebrates urban agriculture in the city this Wednesday September 11th! Join us for a great line-up of speakers from 2-5 pm at Toronto City Hall, Committee Room 4

Welcome to September! Our fall-welcoming TFPC meeting comes on the eve of Toronto’s Urban Agriculture Week. In celebration of Urban Agriculture Week, so we will be featuring a great line-up of speakers on UA initiatives in two great cities – Toronto and Montreal. It’s a terrific opportunity to hear from national and international experts in urban agriculture!

Here’s the line-up:

School gardens are taking off out all over North America, and Sunday Harrison, Executive Director of Green Thumbs and a member of the Toronto Food Policy Council, is one of the pioneers. Sunday and two colleagues will present on why school gardens make so much sense.

There’s lots we can learn about urban agriculture from other cities, and Montreal is one of them. Dr. Joe Nasr, a world leader in research on urban agriculture and a member of the Toronto Food Policy Council, will be joined by Dr. Eric Duchemin, urban agriculture specialist and member of the Montreal Food Policy Council.

Finally, Rhonda Teitel-Payne from Toronto Urban Growers will give us a run-down of all the great events planned across the city to celebrate Urban Agriculture Week.
