About the TFPC
The Toronto Food Policy Council (TFPC) was established in 1991 as a subcommittee of the Board of Health to advise the City of Toronto on food policy issues. In early 2020, Toronto Public Health swiftly adjusted its focus in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The City's food work also shifted to support the community's emergency food response, while the work of the TFPC was paused.
Transition
At this time, much of the City's food work, including the work led by the Toronto Food Strategy is in transition. Staff are working to identify priority actions and new homes for those actions within various City divisions, as appropriate.
Toronto's Poverty Reduction Strategy Office will be reporting to City Council in 2023 with more information about the transition of the City’s food work. Visit the website and stay tuned for more information.
